Until 1969 London Transport's bus services covered an area much larger than was the case afterwards. Beyond the red buses was a ring of services comprising LT's Country Bus area, serving places up to 30 miles distant from Charing Cross and starting from the outer suburbs. This area was almost exclusively served by vehicles in the attractive Lincoln green and cream livery. From a peak in the early 1950s, the Country Buses and Green Line coach services suffered a gradual decline, in common with many bus services elsewhere in Britain. This book covers the routes operated by the Country Bus department from the mid-1950s to 1969 and is written by someone who extensively travelled on them during this period. It follows publication of his successful Green No More book, which covered the period from 1970.
