London's Engine Sheds Part 1 The West and North

In this book, the authors, Roger Griffiths and John Hooper take a look back at the engine sheds of London in the heavy days of (nearly) all-steam, the 1950s and 1960s. This is the first of two volumes on the topic and in this particular publication the authors take a look at each individual shed working clockwise from the north bank. This book covers the area west and north of the city. In pre-grouping times, these were the sheds of the: LSWR (1); GWR (2); GCR (1); MR (2); LNWR (2) and GNR (2)- totalling ten depots in all. This book is soft back, with over 140 beautiful black and white photographs illustrating the golden age of steam.
