2019 represents a milestone in Glasgow transport history as it marks 125 years since the tramways came into the ownership of Glasgow Corporation, the forerunner to today's Glasgow City Council. Glasgow had long had horse drawn buses but it was late to the scene when it came to motorbuses. The first examples entered service with Glasgow Corporation in 1924, more than 20 years after they'd first appeared in London. Of course, Glasgow focussed its urban transport needs on the much loved tramcar and this would be the case for more than 60 years. The main focus is the bus but trams, trolleybuses and the Subway are also well covered. While much of the book looks back, it comes right up to date with pictures of the latest developments in the First Glasgow fleet. It has been compiled by Phil Halewood drawing on the extensive collections of GVVT members and is packed with photographs, most of which have never been published.
