Pontypridd Trolleybuses
David Bowler has now turned his attention to the trolleybuses of Pontypridd, one of the smallest of Britain's systems. The book begins with an explanation of some of the terms used in trolleybus operation, such as frog and hanger. The tramway era is covered in the first chapter and then the detailed story of the trolleybuses begins. There is a great amount of detail included in this volume, and as with his book on Portsmouth half of the pages are appendices with information about the vehicles, wartime loans, statistics and much more. Pontypridd operated one of the only two trolleybuses with Bristol chassis and these are well illustrated. There are just a few colour photographs, which is not surprising as the system closed early in 1957, but there are many other excellent pictures from the cameras of Roy Marshall and others which capture the surroundings as well as the vehicles.
