In this book, the authors, Roger Griffiths and John Hooper take a look back at the engine sheds of London in the heavy days of (nearly) all-steam, the 1950s and 1960s. This is the second of two volumes on the topic and in this particular publication the authors take a look at the area east and south of the capital. There, in pre- and post-grouping terms, were locomotive sheds of the: GER (1); NLR (1); LTSR (1); SECR (1); LCDR (1); LSWR (1) and SR (2) - totalling eight depots in all. If you have ever visited any of London's engine sheds then this album will hopefully bring back memories from long ago when steam ruled (nearly) along with dirt, grime, ash and clinker. This book is soft back, 88 pages, with over 100 beautiful black and white photographs illustrating the golden age of steam.
