This book tells the fascinating story of how Brown's Blue developed and grew and became an integral part of life in North West Leicestershire. Mick Gamble has visited and interviewed many of the personalities involved with the business from senior management to the men and women who drove or conducted on the buses, plus members of the engineering staff who came up with ingenious ways of keeping the fleet on the road. BrownÂ's Blue buses operated for the last time on 15th March 1963 with Midland Red taking over the business and services (but none of the buses or coaches) the following day. The story doesn't quite end there however, and Mick relates how a new coach business emerged and also looks at what still remains today that can be linked to the company.
