Cumbria Stage Buses in Wasdale, Eskdale and Millom Post-War to 1985

In this book we take a journey down the Cumbrian coast, south of Whitehaven, an area away from the busy central Lake District and with the added beauty of an unspoilt coast, and follow the bus route, that started in Whitehaven, and went via Gosforth down to Millam. On the way we take a short trip into the unspoilt Wasdale that has Wastwater and Scafell Pike as a backdrop. These routes were operated by Cumberland Motor Services (CMS) and we also look at Sim's former stage bus operation from Boot in Eskdale. CMS had their headquarters in Whitehaven, and in the 1940s placed large forward orders for Leyland single and double-deckers to cover their requirements until the mid-1950s; these buses are especially featured in this book.
