The award-winning author has had a long-standing interest in the transport ventures of the Wemyss family, lairds of Wemyss Castle in Fife. In 1976, he published a book on their tramway. The Wemyss & District Tramway was uniquely built and run by Randolph Wemyss and opened for business in 1903, serving the east of Kirkcaldy, Coaltown of Wemyss, East Wemyss, Dendbeath, Methil and Leven until January 1932, also running early motor bus services in the 1920s. Various archive primary sources, not previously available, have been researched in depth for this new publication, including many more photographic images than was possible then and maps of the route.
