If there was ever a golden age of the British bus, then it surely encompassed the municipal fleets that served Manchester and the neighbouring Lancashire and Cheshire towns until 1969. These bus undertakings were statements of civic pride, with many painting their vehicles in their town or city's chosen shade of municipal red, others green and others still in far less common blue. In this book, the authors provide not only many colour photographs and descriptions of the huge variety of vehicles and routes each undertaking operated, but crucially they also tell us why and introduce us to the personalities behind these decisions. 136 pages hardback with around 200 colour photos.
