Culm Valley Light Railway
This book tells the story of how the line came into being and the engineer's evangelical views on light railways, of the problems of construction and how the resulting debt forced the company to go cap in hand to an unwilling GWR to sell at a loss. It tells how the traffic built up, with new enterprises along the line taking advantages of the transport facilities, until the railway became reliant on just one or two customers. When they ceased so the railway closed. Because of the light nature of the line only a few locomotives could work the line and, particularly at the beginning of this century, an interesting selection of engines from GWR's lesser branch lines visited the valley. Carriages, too, were restricted and the former Welsh railways provided many.
