Early Independents of the Henley & Marlow Area

This is the first of three volumes based on over 50 years of local transport history research, much of it using long-lost primary sources from those who were involved in the pioneering operations of bus and coach services. The others cover Bracknell, Crowthorne & Wokingham Area and the Maidenhead Area. Covering a period from the early days of motor vehicles, the stories reveal the enterprise, and at times setbacks of the age, all put in the context of the local area and other relevant factors of the period, up to (or beyond) the Second World War, containing many rare photos and much local and social history. This book includes the full story of Marlow & District Motor Services, the final part of the Thames Valley history. Within its 96 pages there are 80 monochrome photos, along with full details of all known vehicles and premises, plus location maps.
