This book focusses on the trains hauled by class 50s locomotives in and around the cities of Bristol and Bath. The first of the English Electric built locomotives arrived for duty at Bristol Bath Road depot in 1972 and for the next twenty years they were a staple of freight, passenger and maintenance trains in the area. It looks at each of the main routes and branch lines from 1973 to the current day with many pictures from both before and after the major refurbishment of the class. For the purposes of this book the area considered to be Bristol and Bath is the area inside the following locations: To the North: Cam and Dursley, To the East: Thingley Junction and Hullavington, To the South: Bradford Junctions and Cogload Junction. To the West: The Severn Tunnel portal near Pilning.
