Trolleybuses first came to London in a small way, being introduced in southwest London in 1931 by London United Tramways. Following on from this, in five years between 1935 and 1940 London Transport built up a massive and complex trolleybus network in its replacement of trains. When the Second World War brought development to a halt, London Transport had an operational fleet of 1,671 trolleybuses - by far the largest fleet in the world. Contains a network map, numerous black & white illustrations and colour reproductions of adverts etc, plus details of all vehicles introduced during the period.
