Around the Aberdeen and Dundee Tramway Systems with Peter Mitchell

This is the third book in the series “Around the Tramway System with Peter Mitchell” following from the Glasgow and Edinburgh books and it covers both Aberdeen and Dundee. These two systems served the third and fourth largest cities in Scotland respectively but were much smaller. After World War Two, these four cities in Scotland were the only ones still operating tramways. During his visits to Scotland in the 1950s Peter Mitchell visited both of these tramways, Aberdeen three times, Dundee four times and took a number of excellent pictures of each system. While we do not know what type of camera he used, the quality of the pictures is very high and many of the views he took are unusual. They also show both cities in the early 1950s before new developments changed their appearance.
