Eighty years ago, on 7 May 1945 the occupying German forces formally surrendered in Norway. This book charts how the Coastal Express managed to continue serving all those who endured unspeakable hardships along the ‘long coast’ of Norway during the occupation. No less than 17 Coastal Express ships would be wrecked during the war and whilst many losses were the result of attacks by German planes a significant number of vessels would fall victim to the Allied war machine.
