Details

Just 25 miles in length and built purely to provide an outlet for coal from the Somerset Coalfield, the Bristol-Frome-Radstock Line gave good service to the area until passenger service ceased in October 1959. Over 50 years later it would now be much quicker than car as a way of getting between its end points! Part of the line remains open at the Frome end to serve stone quarries, but the rest, including the Camerton branch, of Titfield Thunderbolt fame, has gone, much to the relief of Radstock residents, who had to put up with the parallel level crossings of this line, and the Somerset &?Dorset, causing complete chaos on a daily basis. 240 pages, A5 softback with many black & white photos and maps.
