Prior to the birth of Stevenage New Town in 1949, Stevenage was a modest market town served by four through bus routes and one Green Line Coach route, all of which were provided by London Transport. The bus routes were 303, 303A, 384 and 390, the Green Line Coach Route being the 716. As the town grew so did the bus service. The book is spit into the following chapters: Introduction; The 1950s; The 1960s; Bus Routes Operating at the end of 1969; Fare Charts; 1970 The end of an era; The Vehicles; Appendices - RT Allocation and it is through these chapters that the author explains what happened.
