A firm favourite in steam days, the LMS design Jubilee class has previously received much attention so far as technical information and workings on the LMS/ LMR system as a whole is concerned. Never before though has a detailed look been taken at the workings of the class concentrated north of the border. This is a surprise as right from the start engines of the class had been based at both Perth and Aberdeen. In addition no less than 50 examples were built by the North British Company at their Queens Park and Hyde Park Works in Glasgow. In this new book author Stuart Ashworth describes and illustrates the work of the class in both LMS and later BR days using technical and factual information but supplemented by personal accounts and observation. The result is a new look at a famous class and one which served the railways proud for almost three decades. Illustrated throughout, examples of the type are portrayed in good and not so good days, working different types of train, at rest and also under repair.
