Trams Across the Wear - Sunderlands Electric Trams

A pictorial survey of the system in the post-second World War period. This tour of the route is followed by a review of the trams themselves. Electric trams ran in Sunderland from 1900 until October 1954 and at the time of closure it was the last tram system in the North East of England. At its peak in the late 1940s there were 91 trams operating over 14 miles of route. A special point has been made to record and illustrate the 'pre-Sunderland' history of the many second-hand cars brought into the fleet. 164 pages A4 hardback with 10 colour and 370 black & white photos.
