Details

Ian Manning traces the Yelloway origins from Holt Brothers through its period as a double deck stage carriage bus operator into Manchester and its wartime difficulties, as well as its evolution in coaching and respected golden years as an independent family business run by Herbert and later Hubert Allen. It concludes with its most unfortunate rapid demise following sale into ATL ownership. He provides full fleet histories for Yelloway and all its associated companies through to Yelloway Trathen Express and also additionally for the FG Trathen & Son business until its failure in 1985. This A5, softback 162 page book contains 110 photos and other images, almost half are in colour and many not previously published. It pays forensic attention to the fleet details but is also very readable and can therefore perhaps be regarded as the most comprehensive published research into those company fleets to date.
