Devised by the GER as an experiment to act as feeder to the main line network, the Wisbech & Upwell Tramway has its genesis under the 1870 Tramway Act. Opened in 1883 it enjoyed a full passenger service until the last day of 1927, and continued to carry a flourishing goods traffic until competition from road transport finally brought about closure on 20th may 1966. With its rural location and unique motive power the line has always been of great interest to enthusiasts and this comprehensive study will be warmly welcomed. The book looks at the historical background and opening of the line, its Halcyon Years, Decline, Nationalisation and Closure. The route is then described in detail, as are timetables and traffic, locomotives and rolling stock. This book has been reprinted after much demand. A5 softback, 240 pages with 204 illustrations.
