West Midlands Travel - The Travel Years

David Cole continues his photographic exploration of the development of public transport in the West Midlands over the last 40 or so years, this time covering the West Midlands Travel fleet in the years 1996-2008 when the Travel West Midlands branding was in use. 96 pages of high quality images and detailed captions guide us through the introduction of a new low-floor fleet both single- and double-deck and follow the changes in the business' preferred supplier from Volvo through Optare, Mercedes-Benz and Dennis/ADL to Scania. We see the evolution of the ‘standard’ colour schemes as well as the colourful dedicated route branding and all-over advertising schemes that were applied. In addition to the main fleet, the rise (and sometimes fall) of the associated Travel Your Bus, Travel Merry Hill, Travel Coventry, Travel Dundee and Travel London operations are covered, particularly where vehicle interchange with the main fleet occurred.
